Plaque in Raintree Park. It reads "John McDouall Stuart and his party after successfully crossing Australia south to north reached Van Diemen's Gulf 24th July 1862 and named Chambers Bay. His work resulted in the annexation of the Northern Territory to South Australia 1863 and the construction of the Overland Telegraph Line 1872.
