Description

"The Centre for Remote Health (CRH) was approached by the Northern Territory Police and Family And Children’s Services to undertake a scoping study of services in Borroloola targeting “social issues”, with a particular focus on issues around the safe house, and services for men. Thirty one interviews were conducted with key agencies and individuals in Borroloola, Katherine and Darwin, and information thematically analysed. The interviewees represented agencies involved in service delivery, policy staff and community elders and other individuals. The findings showed that there was indeed a lack of coordination of services and that the community was largely unaware of or confused about the operation of some of these services. This project aims to build on the existing information gathered in the earlier planning process, but to specifically focus on issues to do with the safe house, particularly integration of services and support structures. Men’s issues and related services will also be a focus of our investigations." - Executive summary, Made available via the Publications (Legal Deposit) Act 2004 (NT).,
