The lions at the entrance are to protect the temple. They were originally brought from China in the early 1800's by Chinese gold miners for the Pine Creek Temple. However, in 1942, after the temple was destroyed, the lions were separated. One went to Tipperary Station and the other was found at Larrakeyah Army Base.,
