Barkly Regional Arts Each event was magical and calling out a specific highlight is d ifficult as so many parts were beautiful from seeing our young people shine in 'Barkly Ballet'. singing with the Opera. eating under the stars at the Telegraph Station. hearing the sounds of language at Nyinkka Nyunyu around the Campfire and the divine Electric Fields at lake Mary Ann. For the first l ime this year the Festival created 'Go Walkabout'. a volunteer-tourism activity that saw 12 people travel in form all over Australia to volunteer their time on the Festival in exchange for a community experience. Over the next few weeks we will collecting data and feedback from this activity. as well as showcasing their 'Desert media stories' they created about their time with us. The Festival hopes to grow this activity to build this into a stronger initiative with greater support for tourism/economic outcomes. The Festival now moves into the acquittal. report writing and evaluation phase in which we will a lso be asking the community for quotes and comments as this helps us to continue to grow the Festival and attract Festiva l funding. The Festival will a lso be sending out Survey Monkeys. collecting d irect feedback face to face for documenting and putting notices in the paper and around town over the next few weeks to hear your voice. We hope that this years Festival has inspired others to get involved next year. The Festival programs two years in advance and we ore keen to begin chats w ith local people and organisations to begin creating work. opportunities and activities for the 2018 Desert Harmony Festival. The ideo con be small at this stage but we would love to begin having those conversations over the next few months to give enough time to brainstorm, develop, apply for funding and create.
