June/July 2005 Youth Grant Recipients REGION ORGANISATION/ INDIVIDUAL ACTIVITY DARWIN Duke of Edinburgh's Award NT Division SPRAY (Sports, Performance, Recreation and Activities for Youth): A day of activities for the youth of Darwin and Palmerston organised by students of the Charles Darwin University in partnership with the Duke of Edinburgh's Award NT staff and volunteers. Activities include basketball and skateboarding workshops/competitions, rap dancing/singing workshops, local youth bands and amusement activities such as clowns and a jumping castle. Australian High School Rodeo Association Rodeo School: A one-week event held during the school holidays where young people interested in rodeo activities can attend workshops to learn a variety of rodeo techniques. These include the junior steer ride, barrel racing and the breakaway roping events. This event will encourage participants to become more involved with the Australian High School Rodeo Association. Australian Red Cross - NT Division OYA SHAK School Holiday Program: A holiday program for young people in the Darwin area. The program will be held 5 days a week during the school holidays. Activities will include excursions to the beach, Ultra Fast Go Karting, Zone 3 laser tag, bowling, movies, fishing, mini golf, rock climbing, skating and more. At the end of the holidays there will also be a disco for the under 18's. PALMERSTON Palmerston City Council How to Make A Film in a Day: for young people in Palmerston: A one day workshop on 'How to Make a Film in a Day' will be held for young people in Palmerston and will give them the opportunity to work alongside a professional filmmaker to produce their own short film in a practical hands on environment.
