I N B E T W E E N T H E L I N E S P A G E 2 PRESIDENT'S REPORT NOVEMBER 2018 B y P a t M o o r e 2018 is almost done and dusted and we can look back with a sense of accomplishment especially when we consider the small number of people responsible for organising our activities. Our Community Benefits grant was successful and enabled us to bring award- winning author Trace Balla to Darwin and Alice Springs. We received very positive feedback from all she came in contact with. The grant also enabled us to pay for the time D E C E M B E R 2 0 1 8 I S S U E 4 and expertise of our authors and illustrators at the BookFeast. We again received excellent feedback regarding the BookFeast. We had a presence at the Essington Book Fair where the winning and short-listed books were on display for the public. We were also asked to man a table at the Humpty Doo Childrens Week Celebrations on the Village Green where the short-listed books attracted a lot of interest. The rug and cushions under the shade of a tree gave the visitors a much- needed reprieve from the heat, where parents and children could enjoy our award-winning books. The CBCA conference is to be held in Canberra from the 31st May to 2nd June, 2019. Please go the website to find out more about this extremely valuable event. I have attended a number of these conferences and find them the most interesting, motivating and insightful conferences I attend.
