It was really nice to meet her face to face and hear about her experiences as a teacher and judge. In February, I will be meeting with the team of Early Childhood Judges to make the big decision about the best book for the year. I look forward to this opportunity to collaborate with the other judges. What a privilege it has been to be a judge and I am truly grateful for this wonderful opportunity. It is hard to believe one year of judging is soon to be complete. Any day now I should receive the sixth box of books. Then in December we will receive our last shipment of books. With every book that I judge I like to look up information about the authors and illustrators. It is interesting to see where the creativity of the books is coming from. I recently had the pleasure of meeting ClaireElliott, a fellow judge on theEarly Childhood team. KEEP KIDS READING OVER THE HOLIDAYS B y K r i s t y G e n e t t i Encourage kids to keep reading over the school holidays by joining the Summer Reading Club. Join online or check with your local library to see if they are running the program. City of Darwin Libraries, City of Palmerston Library, Alice Springs Public Library are all running the Summer Reading Club at their libraries.
