ichthysproject.com A recent visit to Japan by Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull provided an important opportunity for INPEX to further strengthen its relationship with Australia. The Ichthys LNG Project not only represents the largest Japanese investment in Australia but also the largest Japanese overseas investment. During Mr Turnbulls visit, INPEXs former CEO and Chairman Mr Naoki Kuroda attended a Japan-Australia Business Cooperation Committee business function to welcome the Prime Minister. INPEX Corporation Representative Director, CEO and President Mr Toshiaki Kitamura later thanked Mr Turnbull for his support for the Project at an event also attended by Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe. Mr Turnbull and Mr Kitamura have previously held talks at Kirribilli House in Sydney in January 2017. More than 1200 individual job opportunities including almost 100 traineeships on the Project have been secured by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. INPEX is committed to seeing economic and social benefits from the Ichthys LNG Project flow to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, INPEX Aboriginal Affairs Manager Irene Stainton said. As the Projects construction heads toward completion, it is encouraging to know that the experiences gained will pave the way for future success. More than 60 businesses have been awarded 549 subcontract commitments, worth a cumulative value of more than $159 million. Amongst the businesses are Rusca Bros Services, Larrakia Development Corporation, DICE Australia, Redline Plumbing and All Fix Mechanical. http://www.ichthysproject.com
