Wawrinka is fit and the last start third in a better grade than this is good enough to be winning this. Tregorik lacks race fitness, but won over the same distance two starts back. Isle Of Light is still a maiden and having first go at the track, but the form looks good enough to measure up. SELECTIONS: 3 Wawrinka, 1 Tregorik, 4 Isle Of Light, 2 Edge Of Chaos RACE 3 DESIGNERS KITCHENS HANDICAP (1300M) Taciturn is having his first start in Darwin, but comes here with good enough Victorian form to put him on top for the leading stable. On Your Way drops back in class and is a clear second pick. Lucky Leslie will get a soft run from the alley and is the knockout hope at nice odds. SELECTIONS: 2 Taciturn, 1 On Your Way, 4 Lucky Leslie, 7 Larriconi RACE 4 CARLTON UNITED BREWERIES HANDICAP (1200M) Harmonium Bells is a very good mare and I think she will be too classy for them here. Metallic Crown has drawn well and if she is able to hold the front she will be hard to catch. I Am The Fox will be finishing off hard late. SELECTIONS: 3 Harmonium Bells, 2 Metallic Crown, 1 I Am The Fox, 4 Federal Court RACE 5 MAGIC MILLIONS HANDICAP (1200M) Taipei Dancer will be able to jump quickly and prove very hard to catch. All three of its runs in Darwin have been good and I think it has more upside than these. From Firth is back from a Broome trip, will get a nice run from alley and is a big chance. Sabai Sabai was very good over the Darwin Cup Carnival and has the class to be in the finish here. SELECTIONS: 6 Taipei Dancer, 5 From Fifth, 2 Sabai Sabai, 3 Rosherville DARWIN QUADDIE WITH NATHAN SCOTTON LADBROKES Jockey Brendon Davis is led in by Sharlene and Ella Clarke on Captain Punch, trained by Gary Clarke, following victory in the Bet365 Palmerston Sprint last month. Captain Punch will race at Caulfield today with Davis taking the ride Picture: JUSTIN KENNEDY Trainer cant split pair of top hopes CHAMPION Darwin trainer Gary Clarke cannot split which horse will run better Metallic Crown or Harmonium Bells in the $20,500 Carlton United Breweries Handicap (1200m) at Fannie Bay today. Both carry good form into the feature sprint and race four on the program. I cant pick one or the other both are in with a good chance, Clarke said. Itll come down to which horse runs best on the day. Six-year-old Metallic Crown made a strong impression in his two starts over the 2018 Darwin Cup Carnival. The gelding saluted in the $20,000 Merit Partners Handicap (1200m) on July 14, before finishing second in the $40,000 Darwin Corporate Park Cup (1300m) on August 1. He only had two starts there werent a lot of options for us, Clarke said. Running 1300m or 1200m are his best distances. Weve got him in a 1200m race (today) in a field that shouldnt be too fast, so it should be a suitable race for him. Clarke said Harmonium Bells was versatile over a range of distances. Shes a very tough mare. Shes competitive in anything from 1000m to a mile, he said. The six-year-old finished fourth in the $30,000 Magic Millions Handicap (1300m) on Darwin Cup Day, August 6. Her last start was a third place in the $20,500 Cyril Young Memorial Handicap (1000m) on September 1. She wont be here much longer going into the wet season she gets the puffs during the warmer, humid weather, Clarke said. So well take her down to Alice Springs. There will be plenty of interest from the Clarke family and connections regarding how Captain Punch goes at Caulfield today. The seven-year-old has won his past three races, including the $135,000 Bet365 Palmerston Sprint (1200m) at his last start on August 4. The Territorys best current sprinter will compete in the $120,000 Grassroots Sports Club for Mirabel Handicap (1100m) at Caulfield. His rating is too high to be racing up here at the moment, so hell have a crack in the big smoke, said Clarke, with stable jockey Brendon Davis to ride. He ran really well in his barrier trial in Adelaide last week, but starting from barrier 16 wont make it easy for him. Clarke also said he would be interested to see how new additions to his stable Divine Red (race one) and Taciturn (race three) perform in Darwin today. JOSH SPASARO SINGLE WIN BETS ONLY.
