MacDonnell Regional Council Staff Newsletter SEPTEMBER 2018 volume 10 issue 4 page 2 Welcome to Councillor Sarah Stockman Congratulations to Sarah Stockman from Papunya who nominated as a candidate ahead of the recent by election in the Luritja Pintubi ward. At the close of nominations there were no other candidates so an election was not necessary and Sarah was declared the new councillor for the Luritja Pintubi ward. We welcome her to the MacDonnell Regional Council. Her experiences as a young mother in Papunya and her administration roles with MacDonnell Regional Council and other organisations will help inform her contributions to council discussions. Welcome to MacDonnell Regional Council, It is surprising to recognise our results that we usually miss through sheer hard work. Having a special birthday becomes a time to take a break, have a look and see some of the things we have been achieving: a clear and consistent vision and mission provides a unified focus for council as it manages accountability and directs our infrastructure investments we continue to develop amenities like parks, sports grounds and waste management to benefit residents across our 13 communities we are extremely proud to be providing stable local Aboriginal employment with compounding benefits and promotional opportunities Our 10 year birthday combined well with NAIDOC celebrations with both being a great chance for community residents to acknowledge their achievements. MacDonnell Regional Council enjoyed the opportunity, within the celebrations, to acknowledge and award its staffs contribution in their communities through council operations. The timely introduction of a 10 Year Service Award medal was a heartfelt way for both the councillors and the administration to acknowledge the contribution of long serving individuals. MacDonnell Regional Council also looks forward at how it will keep improving the lives of Council residents by delivering valued and relevant services. The recently approved Regional Plan with financial year budget, keeps us true to our direction as it sets out our goals and defines the ways we will achieve them. As we survey the past ten years we are very proud of what we have done, where we have come from and look forward to where we are going. Thanks for your great work, Jeff Jeff MacLeod, Chief Executive Officer, MacDonnell Regional Council. CEO UPDATE BY ELECTION UPDATE
