FRIDAY MAY 11 2018 NEWS 13 V1 - CAVE01Z01MA threw down a joyous afrobeat set, with about a dozen band members playing an assortment of wacky string and horn instruments over the top of a pulsating African drum beat. That evening hundreds of people climbed a hill overlooking the festival to witness an incredible sunset over the East Macs. It was hard to get a spot around the fire after that, as temperatures dropped to what felt like zero. Some danced into the early hours to stay warm, while others withdrew to their sleeping bags. Everyone seemed understandably dusty come Monday morning, but a great sense of camaraderie prevailed as people helped one another pack up their tents and clear the campsite of rubbish. Festival goers all made something different of the long weekend in the bush, but everybody left feeling like it had been a winner.
