11 In the Personnel Services Division, Ms Jude Martin, who had been working as a part-time employee in the position of Director, transferred to Department of Health and Community Services. Mr Hayden Hill, formerly with the Northern Territory Teaching Service commenced in the position on a full-time basis on 18 May 1987. Dr Jack Smith, Director, Policy and Planning Division, and Mr John Nicholas, Senior Analyst transferred to the Department of Health and Community Services on 3 April 1987 and 3 June 1987 respectively. Ms Gillian Lopes was appointed as Grievance Appeals Officer in April 1987 to assist Mr Bill West, Chairman, Promotions Appeals Board, and Mr John Cossons transferred from the Department of Primary Production to assist in the Executive Area. In all, the changes brought an increase in total staff from 57 to 194 (not including Work Health Authority). Management Group: To assist in providing broad policy direction and operational guidelines and as a means of information communication to largely autonomous divisions within the Labour and Administrative Services portfolio, the Management Group, consisting of the Public Service Commissioner, the Deputy Public Service Commissioner, Divisional Directors, Regional Representatives and the Chief Executive Officer of the Work Health Authority, commenced weekly meetings in April. The meetings subsequently were held monthly with the Secretariat providing executive services. The Secretariat which also co-ordinates information for the Departments of Labour Advisory Committee and the Ministers of Labour Conference meetings, in addition to the function of co-ordination and dissemination of information to and from the Minister's Office, was established in April 1987.
