The program was terminated by the Commonwealth in their mini-budget in May 1987 effective from 30 June 1987. The program will continue to run until the 30 June 1988 which will ensure that all projects approved up to the 30 June 1987 can run their maximum allowed duration of 12 months. The program which was aimed at the long term unemployed and other specific groups in the labour market was very successful in the Northern Territory and a measure of that success can be seen in the following statistical data.
