25 A Stop Work Meeting was called by the Northern Territory Trades and Labour Council (TLC) for Friday, 12 June 1987, to discuss action proposed by unions in response to the NT Government's decision. This was followed by further Stop Work Meetings. Discussions took place between the Government and the Trades and Labour Council who had set an agenda to attempt to identify work and management practices and other areas of "wastage" in order to provide savings of $21.5m. Legislation Responsibility for administration of three Northern Territory Acts: Public Holidays Annual Leave Long Service Leave was re-instated with the Division (from the Department of Business, Technology and Communications) during the year, although no staffing adjustments occurred. Key Projects for 1987/88 Resolution of the Northern Territory Public Service (NTPS) dispute. National Wage Case: (a) submissions re balance of 1st Tier increases; (b) considering/negotiating 2nd Tier claims; (c) considering/negotiating Superannuation claims Industrial Relations and Statehood Hancock Report (new Federal legislation) International Labour Organisation - compliance reports and ratifications Maintenance and Enhancement of Arbitration Service Development of Case Reference System Development of Industrial Relations Policies and Objectives Development of industrial relations training in NTPS (in conjunction with Personnel Services Division) Development of a system and reference source to enable consistency in job classification throughout the NTPS
