Stuart Town Gaol Work has been undertaken this year to investigate the cause of serious cracking at the rear of the building. It was discovered that modem buildings on three sides were interfering with the flow of underground water. An agricultural drain has been installed around the gaol and the cracking w ill be closely monitored for some months. The building continues to be open to the public by volunteers. Hartley Street School This property has been reported on in the policy section. Adelaide River Railway Station A local management committee continues to care for this building. It is not anticipated that it w ill be fully open to the public until the Bicentennial display is installed during the following year. OKeefe Residence (Katherine) In preparation of the Trust acquiring tenure over this property the Department of Lands has undertaken a survey and sub-divided the Lot from a larger reserve. The Australian Bicentennial Authority has approved funds for restoration from its Heritage Program and work w ill proceed before the 1987 Wet The Trust's aim in acquiring this property is to retain an improvised style of housing which was dominant in the town of Katherine until the 1960a PROJECTS The following section is a summary of projects that have not been Included in the policy or property sections of this report. Pine Creek Interpretation Of the residue funds placed in an interpretation fund, plus additional forward obligation monies from the National Estate Program, this year has seen the expenditure of $8600 on the display in the Information Centre (Railway Station). 14
