2. RESPONSE TO PETITION No. 19 - TABLED 27 APRIL 1999 MINERAL CLAIMS MADE OVER THE HOWARD SPRINGS HUNTING RESERVE On 11 Ju n e 1999 Mr Hugh Bradley, Chief Magistrate, sitting as the Mining Warden, recommended to the Minister for Resource Development, the Hon Daryl Manzie MLA, th a t eight Mineral Claim applications by Darwin Dolomite Pty Ltd within the Howard Springs Hunting Reserve not be granted. Consequently, in accordance with these recommendations, the Minister has determined not to g ran t these Mineral Claims within the Hunting Reserve. As a result, the Parks and Wildlife Commission of the Northern Territory and the Department of Mines and Energy are to liaise with a view to maintaining conservation interests by determining which Darwin and Darwin Regional Parks may need to have reservations from mining placed on them.
