IN MANY WAYS, NT EXPO HAS COME OF AGE AND HAS GROWN BEYOND ITS ORIGINAL OBJECTIVE OF A THREE-DAY TRADE FAIR. THIS WAS DEMONSTRATED BY THE FACT THAT EXPO '98 WAS A WEEK OF EXTRAORDINARY BUSINESS AND TRADE ACTIVITY ACROSS JUST ABOUT EVERY INDUSTRY SECTOR IN THE TERRITORY. INDEED, NT EXPOS REPUTATION AS AUSTRALIA'S LEADING TRADE EXPOSITION IS NOW ACKNOWLEDGED BY OUR INTERNATIONAL TRADING PARTNERS, OUR COLLEAGUES AROUND AUSTRALIA AND THE LOCAL BUSINESS COMMUNITY. THE TERRITORY BUSINESS COMMUNITY, OVERSEAS EXHIBITORS AND INTERSTATE ORGANISATIONS WERE ALL WELL REPRESENTED AT EXPO. EXIT SURVEYS INDICATED EXHIBITORS WERE PLEASED WITH THE RESULTS, WITH A NUMBER OF BUSINESSES CLOSING DEALS ON THEIR STANDS. MANY BELIEVED THAT THEY WOULD DO EXCELLENT BUSINESS FROM EXPO IN SUBSEQUENT MONTHS. THEIR EXPECTATIONS HAVE BEEN LARGELY REALISED. I WILL ADDRESS THIS ISSUE FURTHER IN A MOMENT. .. * 2
