MADAM SPEAKER, EVENTS SUCH AS EXPO RELY HEAVILY ON BOTH FINANCIAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT FROM PRIVATE SECTOR SPONSORS. WESTPAC BANKING CORPORATION WAS AGAIN THE MAJOR SPONSOR OF EXPO. SPONSORSHIP IS AN IMPORTANT MARKETING TOOL. IT PROVIDES A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO FORGE A STRONG PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN AN ORGANISATION AND THE EVENT IN QUESTION. IT IS NOT JUST ABOUT FINANCES BUT ABOUT FOSTERING RELATIONSHIPS AND DEVELOPING POTENTIAL BUSINESS PARTNERSHIPS AMONGST THE VARIOUS PARTICIPANTS. MY OWN DEPARTMENT OF ASIAN RELATIONS, TRADE AND INDUSTRY ONCE AGAIN PROVIDED VALUABLE SUPPORT WITH ITS ASSISTANCE WITH THE INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITORS AND WAS A GOLD SPONSOR. AS I SAID AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS STATEMENT, THE SUCCESS OF EXPO WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE WITHOUT THE CONTRIBUTION AND COMMITMENT OF A LARGE NUMBER OF TERRITORY COMPANIES, INDUSTRY ASSOCIATIONS AND GOVERNMENT AGENCIES.
