MADAM SPEAKER, EXPO CONTINUES TO ATTRACT MUCH FAVOURABLE DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL MEDIA COVERAGE. THE EVENT WAS COVERED BY THE INDONESIAN TELEVISION STATION TVRI AND THE MAGAZINE BISNIS INDONESIA. THE PRESENCE OF OVERSEAS MEDIA ENSURES NOT ONLY IMPORTANT COVERAGE OF THE EVENT OVERSEAS BUT ALLOWS FOR USEFUL FEEDBACK ON ISSUES OF MUTUAL INTEREST AND CONCERN. THE INDONESIANS WOULD HAVE BEEN LEFT WITH THE KEY IMPRESSION OF SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT FOR THE PEOPLE OF INDONESIA DURING THE CURRENT, DIFFICULT TIMES. THIS MESSAGE OF SUPPORT FROM AUSTRALIA AND FROM EXPO WILL HOLD US IN GOOD STEAD IN FUTURE. WE RECEIVED IMPORTANT FEEDBACK ON PERCEPTIONS ABOUT THE TERRITORY'S ROLE IN THE OIL AND GAS DEVELOPMENTS IN THE TIMOR SEA. IT IS BECOMING ACCEPTED IN THE REGION THAT DARWIN WILL BE THE MAJOR SUPPLY BASE FOR OFFSHORE DEVELOPMENTS WITH INDONESIA PLAYING A SUPPORTIVE ROLE. NATIONAL MEDIA COVERED THE EVENT WITH ARTICLES IN THE AUSTRALIAN, THE WESTERN AUSTRALIAN, BUSINESS REVIEW WEEKLY, INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS ASIA, OVERSEAS TRADING, AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE BUSINESS REVIEW, NT NEWS AND BY REUTERS NEWS AGENCY. 10
