10 to be dynamic, attractive and people-friendly places in which to live and work have been formulated. The most significant of these initiatives is the extension of the Achieving the Vision program to other urban centres in the Territory. People in all major urban cities will have the chance to shape the future of their hometowns. There will be wide consultation with community groups and individuals in all Territory major urban centres to ascertain the future development of their towns. Other Territory centres are also currently being improved through targeted capital works under the Northern Territory Urban Enhancement Program. This program has seen major improvements to our urban environments throughout the Territory for nearly a decade. The Territory Government will also place a particular focus on streetscape, parks, gardens and places in which people can gather for recreation. This will extend the Urban Enhancement Program. In addition, the Government will develop for Darwin a promenade along the lower Esplanade; a protected town swimming beach; a boat landing and ramp; and pedestrian links between the city and the Stokes Hill Wharf Precinct. In Alice Springs the road networks will be landscaped and the bike path network extended and upgraded. 4 In addition, in the major urban centres there will be upgrading of - roads, building of new service roads, establishment of dedicated road train routes and co-ordinated traffic lights to provide safe and efficient traffic flows. Mr Speaker, a major contributor to our enviable Territory lifestyle is the Territorys natural environment. It makes the Territory unique and different from other parts of Australia. Its magnificent natural features combined with an absence of pollution provides us with the worlds most spectacular natural environment. More importantly our land and waters have not been overstressed or overexploited.
