During 1999-2000, nine auctions w ere held w ith 96 dwellings being sold. C o n tr ib u te to th e reso lution o f N a t iv e T it le an d support a p p ro p r ia te acquis it ion process. Forty-six acquisitions involving Native T itle w ere in progress at 30 June 2000. Consultations w ith land councils w ere commenced on a number o f these in accordance w ith the provisions o f the Lands Acquis it ion A c t and the N a t iv e T it le A c t . O f the 46 acquisitions 14 consultations occurred during the year w hilst tw o others w ere referred to the new Lands and Mining Tribunal which had its firs t chairman appointed on I June 2000. The Branch identified and made available C row n Land to the University o f the N orthern Territo ry to run weed contro l trials as well as commencing the tria ling o f weed management controls o f our own.
