Trade Measurement Advisory Committee (TMAC) TMAC is at present reviewing the Uniform Trade Measurement Act (UTML) as one of its major projects, Queensland is the lead Agency for this. Other ongoing projects reported on included the adoption of the Average Quantity System (AQS) for packing of pre-packed goods, how to administer control of Utility Meters, The Trade Measurement Licensees Accreditation Scheme, Trade Measurement Compliance Strategies, Competency Standards, Non Uniformity Issues, Drained Weights and Fresh Meat Pricing. TMAC has a large work plan for 1998/99 and is working towards full adoption by all States and Territories of nationally uniform legislation. This will provide a market place that will be easier for industry to utilise as well as increasing consumer confidence in measured goods purchased.
