DRINK DRIVING 1. That the N.T. Government be requested to: <i) formally adopt 0.05*/. as the maximum blood alcohol level for drivers as soon as possible; (ii) introduce automatic licence suspension for: a) drivers with blood alcohol levels of 0.15/. and above and/or multiple offenders; b) drivers who refuse to submit to a breath test; (iii) make licence re-issue for convicted drink drivers with blood alcohol levels of 0.15*/. and above contingent upon hard evidence of satisfactory management of alcohol problems; (iv) make drink driver education programs a component of licence re-issue rather than sentencing procedure; (v) make available alcohol rehabilitation programs in N.T. gao 1 s . 2. That the N.T. Police be requested to: (i) publish statistics regarding a) age, blood alcohol levels, and licence type of drivers aged 25 and under involved in alcohol related accidents; b) numbers of "L","P", and under 18 drivers convicted under the zero blood alcohol legislation; 8
