O ffice o f W om en's J iff a ir s The Office of W omen s Affairs, located w ith in the D ep artm en t of th e Chief M inister, advises the C hief M inister an d C abinet on all policy m a tte rs w hich are of relevance to wom en. The Office also co n d u cts re sea rch and develops, coord inates an d m onitors th e im plem enta tion of policy. It p lays a key role in en su rin g th a t w om en's in te re s ts an d concerns are ta k e n in to acco u n t in all a spec ts of G overnm ent policy m aking. A project officer is specifically designated to consu lt on, an d reflect to G overnm ent, c u rre n t issu e s of im portance to Aboriginal w om en. Specific pro jects u n d e rta k e n by the Office include: W om en's Register The reg ister con ta in s the nam es of w om en who are available and su itab le for ap p o in tm en t to s ta tu to ry boards and advisory bodies, in b o th private an d public sectors. Northern Territory W om en's Resources Directory The D irectory provides w om en w ith a reference source w hich covers the range of services available to them in th e Territory. (The W om ens Inform ation Network, D epartm en t of H ealth and C om m unity Services, is now responsib le for the production of th is D irectory and is cu rren tly in th e p rocess of u p d a tin g it.) Northern Territory W om ens Fellowship A w ard The W om ens Fellow ship is aw arded an n u a lly to T erritory w om en who w ish to u n d e rtak e s tu d y or research in te rs ta te or overseas th a t will benefit N orthern T erritory wom en. The 1993-94 Fellow ship is to be aw arded to Aboriginal wom en in celebration of the In te rna tiona l Year of Indigenous People.
