Prior to the com m encem ent of the Public Sector E m ploym ent and M anagem ent Act, the C onservation C om m ission of th e N orthern Territory, the D epartm en t of Lands, H ousing an d Local G overnm ent, the W ork H ealth A uthority, the D epartm en t of the Chief M inister an d the Office of the C om m issioner for Public E m ploym ent h ad in troduced EOMPs. These Agencies are in the process of reviewing an d up d a tin g th e ir EOMPs. Agencies cu rren tly developing EOMPs include: D epartm en t of H ealth and C om m unity Services: D epartm en t of E ducation: Police Force of the N orthern Territory: D epartm en t of T ran sp o rt and W orks; Power and W ater Authority: D arw in Port A uthority: and D epartm en t of Correctional Services. The D epartm en t of H ealth and C om m unity Services h a s appoin ted a C oordinator of E quity and Merit w ith responsib ility for the developm ent an d im plem entation of a n EOMP and the prom otion of equity an d m erit. Sim ilarly the D epartm en t of E ducation h a s dedicated the position of Sen ior E ducation Officer Projects to be responsib le for th e developm ent an d im plem entation of its EOMP. The D ep artm en t of Correctional Services h a s estab lished a n E qual E m ploym ent Com m ittee as a m onitoring m echan ism for the im plem enta tion of in itiatives th a t accord w ith the D ep artm en ts Five Year Plan. Following the closer working re la tionsh ips betw een the D ep artm en t of T ran sp o rt an d W orks, the Power and W ater A uthority (PAWA) an d the D arw in Port A uthority (DPA), efforts of th ese th ree agencies have focused on consolidation of organ isational s tru c tu re s .
