F u nd ing h a s been m ade available for the appo in tm en t of a p ro ject officer an d a com pu ter c o n su lta n t to e stab lish a system for collecting d a ta acro ss agencies in the D arw in area. D o m e stic V io lence T a sk F orce R eco m m en d a tio n s In 1989 the D om estic Violence T ask Force w as form ed to m onito r the im plem enta tion of changes to legislation rela ting to dom estic violence. The Office of W om en's Affairs p resen ted to G overnm ent the repo rt of the T ask Force, w hich contained tw enty-seven recom m endations. The G overnm ent h a s responded by introducing: enforcem ent of dom estic violence legislation; the Dom estic Violence A ct 1992 (com m encem ent se t for 1994); legal reform s including firearm s control; a review of police tra in in g in relation to dom estic violence; inform ation booklet for women; a handbook on dom estic violence for general m edical p rac titioners; a w allet-sized telephone con tact card of N orthern T erritory dom estic violence em ergency resources; d a ta collection project;
