T hese su p p o rt program s are vital, especially in rem ote a re a com m unities. A n a tio n a l fram ew ork for a sse ssm en t p rocedures in th e HACC program an d the developm ent of a com plain ts policy h a s agreed to by S ta te an d T erritory M inisters. The N orthern Territory HACC M inisterial Advisory C om m ittee advises bo th the N orthern T erritory and the C om m onw ealth M inisters on com m unity priorities and service developm ent. D is a b il i ty S e rv ic e s The N orthern Territory D isability Policy w as endorsed an d tab led in th e Legislative A ssem bly in 1992. This w as followed by the N orthern T erritory D isability Services Act w hich com m enced in J u ly 1993 an d is com plem entary to the C om m onw ealth D isability Services Act. In add ition to th e HACC schem e, th e D epartm en t of H ealth an d C om m unity Services offers a range of p rogram s w hich a re available to people w ith d isabilities, the frail aged or those who provide care for fam ily m em bers. T hese p rogram s are adm in istered u n d e r th e Aged and D isability Program D irectorate an d are designed to a ss is t people w ith n o n -acu te physical,
