In D arw in KARU offers fostering, care giving and em ergency services and a link up service to re-un ite fam ilies sep ara ted th ro u g h previous governm ent policies. M inbani Fam ily C entre in D arw in provides cen tre b ased care, includ ing long-day, regular, part-tim e, occasional, em ergency and after school care. It also conducts p rogram s for e n rich m en t and school holiday program s for ch ild ren to 14 years. K atherine and B atchelor m ulti-functional Aboriginal ch ild ren s services provide a range of child care choices for pa ren ts . Eleven ch ild ren 's services program s in Aboriginal com m unities were approved for funding in 1992-93. and are now offering playgroup and child care services. These were expanded by a fu rth er seven p rogram s funded in 1992-93 and 1993-94. A m obile p rogram is now opera ting in Borroloola an d a m obile su p p o rt service is also provided from Y arralin. Children's Services in Rem ote Comm unities S o u th e rn Region services are suppo rted by the Kid Mobile service and th e newly estab lished Family R esource Centre. The JE T Mobile program (RAMJET) sponso red by the K atherine Isolated C h ild ren 's Service com m enced in 1993 and employs two h a n d s-o n w orkers. The a im s and objectives of RAMJET are to a ss is t su ppo rting p a re n ts in p a rticu la r to gain access to app ropria te tra in ing an d em ploym ent and , w here th is c rea tes a need for child care, to w ork w ith the com m unity to develop app rop ria te child care a rrangem en ts . Initially RAMJET is w orking w ith four ta rge t com m unities. Training T rain ing in child care is offered th ro u g h o u t the Territory an d includes: A ssociate D iplom a in Child Care, Certificate in Child C are an d the A ccredited T rain ing for Y outh - Child Care Program : N orthern T erritory University:
