EDUCATION The N orthern T erritory G overnm ent endorsed the N ational Action P lan for th e E ducation of Girls 1993-97 w hich w as launched in th e N orthern T erritory in M arch 1993 by the M inister for E ducation , th e Hon Fred F inch . The N ational Action Plan is d irected tow ards schools, system s an d au tho ritie s, w ith the objectives of th e N ational Policy for the E duca tion of G irls con tinu ing to provide the fram ew ork for action a t na tional, system , au th o rity and school levels. N a tio n a l P o licy f o r th e E kiucation o f G irls in A u s tra lia n S ch o o ls The N ational Policy for the E ducation of Girls in A ustra lian Schools w as reviewed du ring 1991-92 by a W orking Party of the A ustra lian E ducation Council. The W orking Party 's Report together w ith a P lan of Action for the s tru c tu re and d irection of 1993-1997 policy im plem entation w as endorsed by the C ouncil in O ctober 1992. The N orthern T erritory G overnm ent h a s agreed to im plem ent the N ational Action Plan for the E ducation of Girls 1993-97 an d approved th e ap p o in tm en t of a Principal E ducation Officer G ender E quity in School Program s, who will have the oversight of th is as p a rt of h is or h e r du ties.
