Dawn H ouse W om en's Refuge is the sponsor. A R esearch Officer will develop a p ictu re of w om en's housing needs an d issu e s in the N orthern Territory, by exam ining: em ergency housing: tran s itio n a l accom m odation; private rental: public ren ta l: and hom e ow nership. The pro ject will a lso look a t wom en w ith special needs, an d a t the legal an d financial im plications of rela tionsh ip breakdow ns. As well a s pub lish in g the re sea rch u n d ertak en , the project will develop a housing in form ation booklet for Territory wom en, outlin ing housing options, legal m a tte rs , financial issues, and referral and advocacy sources. The booklet will be pub lished and d istribu ted in con junction w ith the W om en's Advisory Council and the Office of W om en's Affairs. Support Needs o f Homeless Young Women Project T his h a s been funded a s an innovative project th rough SAAP an d is due to com m ence in 1993. The project a im s to investigate the ex ten t of h o m elessn ess am ongst young wom en (13-18 years) in D arw in and P alm erston , to identify th e ir specific su p p o rt needs, and to develop an d im plem ent im proved su p p o rt activities. The Young W om en's C h ristian A ssociation (YWCA) in D arw in is sponsoring the project. A c o n su lta n t h a s been appoin ted for a six m on th period to develop app rop ria te service delivery activities for existing services to im plem ent.
