Northern Territory Liquor Commission SPECIAL LICENCES In addition to full licences, the Liquor Act authorises the Commission to approve special licences for special purposes under any terms and conditions it sees fit. This system of licensing is available to non-profit organisations including sporting bodies and charitable organisations for special occasions. As shown on the graph, the total number of special licences issued each year has varied in the last 5 years. Considerable administrative effort has been spent by the Inspectorate Staff in processing these applications. The Commission will continue to review the administrative procedures involved in an effort to streamline the process. o0 410 30 J3H Special Extended Licences Issued as at 30 June each year The Commission also issues what is administratively referred to as a special extended licence. This is a form of special licence issued for a series of events over an extended period of up to 12 months. The special extended licences are only issued to sporting, non-profit and charitable organisations. Special extended and special licence holders are restricted to purchasing any liquor for re-sale from a retail outlet. Annual Report 1993 Page 14
