The museum, which is located opposite the Katherine Hospital, houses an eclectic range of displays and pieces that showcase the regions vibrant cultural and historical development. After you have watched the video outlining how Katherinites battled the record flood in 1998, you can discover how World War II impacted the region, including how residents reacted to Japanese bombers dropping their deadly cargo above the town in 1942. If you have an interest in airborne health and how it changed the face of medicine in the Top End, the museum has a first-class display on Dr Clyde Fenton, the Northern Territorys very own flying doctor. The feature piece is Dr Fentons iconic Gipsy Moth aircraft. The Katherine Museum is open from 9am until 4pm each day, with the exception of Christmas Day. TERRITORY HISTORY: The Katherine Museum houses a number of iconic Northern Territory historical pieces, including Dr Clyde Fentons Gipsy Moth.
