22 That the membership of Feppi be revised to include representatives from regional education advisory committees and joint ASSPA committees in urban areas; Recommendation 21.2 Departmental response This is a matter for the AECG and the Minister and is already being addressed. Recommendation 21.3 That the NT Government funds the development and publication of a handbook on effective consultation methodology with Aboriginal communities; Departmental response It should be noted that several relevant useful resources already exist. This matter will be further discussed with the Office of Aboriginal Development. Recommendation 21.4 That superintendents, principals, head teachers and other Departmental officers who need to consult with Aboriginal communities receive appropriate cross-cultural awareness training prior to taking up their positions; Departmental response Already supported. The Departments Aboriginal Educators Support Unit and the Human Resource Development Branch will conduct Cross cultural training sessions in 1997. Recommendation 21.5 That all new Feppi members receive appropriate training; and Departmental response The Department will consult with the AECG to ascertain what types of training would be appropriate.
