FUNDING IS BEING SOUGHT BY ACRE FROM OVERSEAS RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT AGENCIES SUCH AS THE WORLD BANKS GLOBAL ENVIRONMENT FACILITY, THE ASIAN DEVELOPMENT BANK AND AUSAID. A RECENT MEETING WITH THE WORLD BANKS ASIAN RENEWABLE ENERGY REPRESENTATIVE WAS ENCOURAGING. MR SPEAKER, THE AUTHORITYS RENEWABLE ENERGY RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITY IS EMERGING AS AN IMPORTANT DRIVER FOR DEVELOPMENT OF THE TERRITORYS RENEWABLE ENERGY INDUSTRY. THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPLOIT THE AUTHORITYS EXPERIENCE WITH, AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR, THE SERVICING NEEDS OF REMOTE COMMUNITIES HAS BEEN COMBINED WITH THE EFFORTS OF THE TERRITORYS RENEWABLE ENERGY INDUSTRY TO ESTABLISH ITSELF. IN TURN, THIS HAS BEEN LINKED TO THE NATIONAL RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CAPABILITY PROVIDED BY ACRE, WITH THE PROSPECT OF ACCESSING THE INTERNATIONAL RENEWABLE ENERGY SERVICING PROGRAM VIA THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENTS AIJ INITIATIVE. THE TERRITORY IS BECOMING RECOGNISED NATIONALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY AS A LEADER IN THE PROVISION 16
