RENEWABLE ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES; AND SECONDLY, THE UP-FRONT CAPITAL COST OF A RENEWABLE ENERGY SYSTEM. A COORDINATED TRAINING PROGRAM AIMED AT MEETING THE DEFICIT OF SKILLED TECHNICIANS IS A PRIORITY. THIS WOULD INVOLVE INTRODUCTION OF APPROPRIATE CURRICULA THAT PROVIDED EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS THROUGH EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE THROUGH INDUSTRY SUPPORT. UNIVERSITY, UTILITY AND INDUSTRY PLAYERS MUST COOPERATE TO PROVIDE AN INDUSTRY TRAINING PROGRAM OF SUFFICIENT MERIT TO ENABLE THE TERRITORY TO ESTABLISH ITSELF AS A SIGNIFICANT PLAYER IN THE RENEWABLE ENERGY INDUSTRY. THE AUSTRALIAN COOPERATIVE RESEARCH CENTRE FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY (ACRE) INCLUDES A PROGRAM ON EDUCATION. THE MANAGER OF THAT PROGRAM IS ADDRESSING TECHNICIAN TRAINING AS A HIGH PRIORITY AND APPROPRIATE CURRICULA ARE BEING DEVELOPED. 3
