9 DRAFT GUIDELINES INDICATING THE MATTERS TO BE ADDRESSED IN THE EIS HAVE BEEN PRODUCED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF LANDS, PLANNING AND ENVIRONMENT. THE DRAFT GUIDELINES WILL BE SUBJECT TO PUBLIC REVIEW OVER A PERIOD OF 14 DAYS, AND AS SUCH ARE AVAILABLE FROM MY DEPARTMENT FROM TODAY. TO ENCOURAGE PUBLIC PARTICIPATION, ADVERTISEMENTS SEEKING SUBMISSIONS FROM THE PUBLIC WILL BE PUBLISHED IN NEWSPAPERS THIS FRIDAY. SUBSEQUENT TO THIS REVIEW PERIOD, FINAL GUIDELINES WILL BE PREPARED, TAKING INTO CONSIDERATION ANY COMMENTS RECEIVED. I DRAW SPECIFIC ATTENTION TO THE PROCESS OF THE PREPARATION OF THE DRAFT GUIDELINES AS THESE WILL HAVE A DIRECT BEARING ON THE SCOPE AND DEPTH OF THE EIS PROCESS.
