ENROLMENTS OF OVERSEAS STUDENTS HAVE REMAINED STEADY, AND STAFF CONTINUE TO BE INNOVATIVE IN RESEARCH EFFORTS IN THE REGION. MR SPEAKER I BELIEVE THAT THE VOCATIONAL EDUCATION & TRAINING SECTOR OF THE NTU SHOULD BE GIVEN PARTICULAR MENTION FOR THE INROADS IT HAS MADE IN TRAINING PROGRAMS IN THE REGION. IN ORDER TO REFOCUS ITS INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITIES, MR SPEAKER, I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT A PRO VICE-CHANCELLOR HAS BEEN APPOINTED WrTH RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE NTU'S INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS. IN THIS NEWLY CREATED POST, THE PRO VICE- CHANCELLOR (RESEARCH AND INTERNATIONAL) WILL CHAIR A SOON-TO-BE-ESTABLISHED COMMITTEE ON INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS. 29
