Auditor - General's Report to the Commissioners of the Northern Territory Tourist Commission Year Ended 30 June, 1996 S C O P E I have audited the accompanying financial statements of the Northern Territory Tourist Commission, for the year ended 30 June 1996, comprising Statement by Commissioners, Balance Sheet, Statement of Income and Expenditure and Statement of Cash Flows together with Notes to and Forming Part of the Financial Statements. As Commissioners, you have requested the preparation and presentation of general purpose financial statements and you are responsible for the information they contain. At your request, I have performed an independant audit of these financial statements in order to express an opinion upon them to you. M y audit has been conducted in accordance with Australian Auditing Standards to provide reasonable assurance as to whether the financial statements are free of material misstatement. M y procedures included examination, on a test basis, of evidence supporting the amounts and other disclosures in the financial statements and the evaluation of accounting policies and significant accounting estimates. These procedures have been undertaken to form an opinion whether, in all material respects, the financial statements are presented fairly in accordance with applicable Accounting Standards, other mandatory professional reporting requirements (Urgent Issues Group Consensus Views) so as to present a view which is consistent with m y understanding of the financial position of the Commission and the results of its operations and its cash flows. The audit opinion expressed in this report has been formed on the above basis. A U D I T O P I N I O N In m y opinion the financial statements present fairly the financial position of the Northern Territory Tourist Commission as at 30 June, 1996 and the results of its operations and its cash flows for the year ended on that date in accordance with applicable Accounting Standards and other mandatory professional reporting requirements.
