GENERAL SERVICES FUNCTIONS | ---------------- ----- ANNUAL REPORT 1994-95 General Services is responsible for the timely provision of a high standard of service in the areas of purchasing, assets control, vehicle fleet management, security, office accommodation, communications, records management and occupational health and safety. Staff were crucial to the provision of assistance with the opening of Parliament House and the COAG Meeting. PROGRAMS AND PERFORMANCE Maintain the standard of general office support with emphasis on vehicle fleet management, accommodation, records and assets management, timely purchases and security. This is an ongoing process. Relocation of Ministerial Offices, the Office of the Leader o f the Opposition and the Office o f the Parliamentary Counsel to Parliament House. The relocation was successfully carried out in October 1995. Provide an efficient and effective records management service to the Department. A review of records management services has commenced. Promote a safe working environment consistent with Occupational Health and Safety legislation including the development and implementation of the Occupational Health and Safety Program for the Department. A draft program was developed and has been circulated for comment Implement the Occupational Health and Safety Module in the Personnel and Integrated Payroll System (PIPS). The Occupational Health and Safety Module has yet to be evaluated by the PIPS Steering Committee. Development and implementation of the Workplace Hazard Identification, Assessment and Control Procedures for the Department Workplace hazards were identified, and control procedures documented. The identification of further workplace hazards and the documentation of control measures is an ongoing process. Department of the Chief Minister 59
