Description

The Government’s 2009 Climate Change Policy established a Green Energy Taskforce to provide expert advice on strategies, incentives and pathways to encourage the growth and funding of the renewable and low emissions energy industry in the Territory as well as assisting the Territory in meeting its goal of having 20% of its electricity demand met by renewable and low emission sources by 2020. Its Terms of Reference identified priorities for the Taskforce’s first two reports, as follows: 1. Develop a detailed proposal for substituting a large component of diesel generation with renewable and low emissions energy in remote communities, including financing and funding options; and 2. Prepare an evaluation of the relative merits, feasibility and likely costs of the potentially available renewable technologies to be used in the NT, including geothermal, solar, biomass and tidal., Made available via the Publications (Legal Deposit) Act 2004 (NT).,
