Relevant Commonwealth agencies report that they are liaising closely with appropriate State government authorities and/or with waste contractors to ensure that the requirements o f the NEPM are met. One agency, the Australian Antarctic Division (Department o f the Environment and Heritage), has had its compliance with the NEPM greatly facilitated by the Tasmanian State departments development of a protocol to help implement the NEPM. PART 3 - A S SES S M E N T OF NEPM EFFECTIVENESS____________________________ The Commonwealth notes the progress o f States and Territories in working towards a consistent approach to the implementation and continuous improvement of the operation of the NEPM, and no agencies reporting on the NEPM indicated any problems in meeting the requirements o f the NEPM.
