The rem aining 321 b rand ow ners represen ted less that 1 % each o f the num ber o f item s audited. In the general waste stream , 17 brandow ners accounted for 43% o f the total item s audited. U nbranded item s were counted in only one audit, w here they accounted for 19% by num ber o f the total packaging item s in the w aste stream . M ost m ajor brandow ners (those w ith m ore than 50 item s), all had m ore items in the recycling stream than the waste stream other than Nestle, McDonalds, Unilever, U ncle B ens, Tricon and H einz W atties. All com panies iden tified in the above tables are C ovenant signatories. (d) L etters were received by EPA from the C ovenant C ouncil on several com panies that had not lodged action p lans, as requ ired by the N PC. EPA w orked w ith these com panies to assist them in com plying with the NPC, many investigations were undertaken in relation to determ ine m arket share, there have been no p rosecutions.
