HERITAGE ADVISORY COUNCIL TWELFTH ANNUAL REPORT 2002-03 2 Achievements 2002-2003 Assessment and Declaration A total of sixteen places nominated to the NT Heritage Register were assessed by Council. Five places were declared as heritage places. Permits, consents and development proposals Seven applications to undertake works on archaeological sites were considered by Council and referred to the Minister. Fourteen applications to undertake works to registered heritage places were considered and referred to the Minister or the Ministers Delegate. There were more than 100 responses made to queries regarding the NT Heritage Register. Proponents of 240 projects were provided with advice regarding their obligations under the Heritage Conservation Act 1991. Conservation and Management The Governments Incentive Package continues to be used by owners of heritage places. There is a near 100% uptake for the rate relief rebate. In the last financial year the heritage advisers provided free specialist advice in relation to twenty-four projects.
