DEBATES Thursday 19 October 2017 2728 Northern Territory is part of that. The larger jurisdictions, with far more capacity to raise more money, will be the ones that win. That is not what this country is meant to be about. The whole point of equity is that everyone should get a good, fair go at life. Territorians deserve nothing less. The government will not be supporting the amendments the Leader of the Opposition proposed. We believe the motion we put forward is very important. It is important to hold the federal Treasurer to account and do everything we can, as a parliament, to keep pressure on the parliamentarians in Canberra to do the right thing for the future of the Northern Territory. This is not just about the Northern Territory; it is about this country, what it stands for and a system of HFE that has worked to ensure fairness, equity and a fair go for all Australians for a long time.
