119DEET Annual Report 2005-06Workforce for the Future > High Capacity Workforce NT WorkSafe has invested in capacity-building with 25 out of 38 staff having undertaken study to upgrade professional qualifications including: Graduate Diploma Business (Management Innovation) Frontline Management Graduate Diploma in OHS. Employment and Training staff have engaged in: internal auditing, mapping trainer skills and qualifications, developing competency based assessment strategies and tools, risk management, and recognition of prior learning technical skills development including Microsoft VISIO, Microsoft Project, ICT Integration - Marvin and Statistical Analysis Software as well as training in basic packages such as Excel, Access and PowerPoint Executive writing skills training. Financial Services Workforce capacity activities have been undertaken for staff employed directly in Financial Services and also for principals and administration managers of NT Government schools. Training and employee development has focused on developing and enhancing technical skills through attendance at: Certified Practising Accountants (CPA) workshops on budgeting, cash flow management, accounting standards and changes and human resources related topics Government Accounting System (GAS) training Supported study at CDU for staff undertaking a Bachelor of Business On the job training and associated study for staff employed under the Graduate Training Program. Skilled Indigenous Staff The Indigenous Capacity Building Plan 2005-2007 details strategies for establishing and retaining a highly skilled and knowledgeable Indigenous workforce throughout DEET. The plan addresses the Indigenous Education Strategic Plan priority area Leadership and Workforce Development. It is implemented through the following projects: Indigenous Employment Professional Learning and Training Indigenous Information and Communication Indigenous Career Pathways Indigenous Data and Systemic Reporting.
