_________________________________________________________ Ombudsmans Annual Report 2004/05 12 LEGAL PRACTITIONERS COMPLAINTS COMMITTEE The Ombudsman is appointed, pursuant to section 48 of the Legal Practitioners Complaints Act, 1974, as a statutory member of the Legal Practitioners Complaints Committee by virtue of holding the statutory position of Ombudsman for the Northern Territory. The role of the Legal Practitioners Complaints Committee is to hear complaints of professional misconduct made against legal practitioners. In 2004/05, the Ombudsman was not been involved in any complaints concerning legal practitioners. NORTHERN TERRITORY LAW REFORM COMMITTEE The Ombudsman is a member of the Northern Territory Law Reform Committee which is chaired by the Hon. Austin Asche, AO, QC. During the year, the Ombudsman has attended meetings of the Committee where possible.
