Abstract
In 2007, the Northern Territory Library (hereafter referred to as the Library) received a Community Heritage Grant from the Federal Government to undertake a Significance Assessment of their photography collection. The grant also covers a subsequent preservation assessment. The Library's collection comprises photographic material with connections to the Northern Territory that has either been donated to, or purchased by the Library.
This significance assessment is based on an estimated 103 representative sample of the total collection. The sample selection considered the following:
Relevance to the history of Australia, Origin, Uniqueness, Condition of the Collection, Material from all regions of the Northern Territory, Historical and Recent Collections.,
