The AHS will deliver co-ordinated and targeted services to meet the complex and diverse range of health needs of adolescents. The Deputy CE of Acute Care will have responsibility for the operation of the AHS. A cross agency group will be formed to ensure maximum coordination (involving Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs, Health Services and Youth Services); and responsible officers will be required to report regularly on progress. The agency notes that a one size fits all approach is not always appropriate to best meet the needs of a diverse, geographically dispersed group with a range of highly complex health needs, but rather a number of innovative service responses are required to ensure young people are receiving the best possible health service they deserve. Another initiative that will occur in the next twelve months will be the development of targeted education and health promotion material for young people and an implementation plan for the use of this material across the NT. We are keen to engage our Youth Roundtable members as consultants in this work, recognising that such programs must be accessible and meaningful for young people if they are to be effective. In my earlier letter I referred to other activities that we are pianning as part of our three year Corporate Plan and these will be developed and integrated with the current strategies so that a comprehensive network of services and strategies are in place for young Territorians. Yours sincerely 'avid Ashbridgef November 2009n m mmsi
