The former New Zealand army engineer officer who has seven years experience in the Top End sporting scene and has project managed multimillion-dollar infrastructure projects overseas and in the Territory recently wrote a piece reacting to the NT Governments revelation that they would fund a financial consultant for NRL NT and its clubs. That announcement came amid a standoff between the games NT stakeholders and governing body. Five of the six Darwin clubs claim NRL NT are not equipped to handle the financial responsibilities that come with running a $25 million fa cility, considering they have been requesting an economic plan since last year and are yet to receive one. Meads piece states the ability to generate revenue from sport had not kept pace with the increasing cost of maintenance for modern sport infrastructure. Furthermore, the life-cycle management of projects such as the proposed Warren Park stadium were key to the financial security of sporting organisations.
