ANSWERS TO WRITTEN QUESTIONS Grass Roots funding is made available twice in each financial year. Organisations can only receive one Grass Roots Grant per financial year. Therefore, the Papunya Community will be eligible to apply for further Grass Roots funding in the 2004-05 financial year. Applications for that year close on 31 August 2004. Therefore, the Kintore community will be eligible to apply for further Grass Roots funding in the 2004-05 financial year. Applications for that year close on 31 August 2004. 129. Sports Development expenditure 2003-04 - Kintore 127. Sports Development expenditure 2003-04-M t Liebig Mr ELFERINK to MINISTER for SPORT How much is being spent in financial year 2003-04 for sports development by way of Sports Grants and Wages in Mt Liebig? ANSWER The Watiyawanu Community Government Council (Mt Leibig Community) did not apply for a grant under the Office of Sport and Recreations Local Governing Bodies Grants Program in 2003-04 financial year. Local Government Councils can also apply for fimding under the Office of Sport and Recreations Grass Roots Development Grants Program, which has two fimding rounds. The first round closed 30 January 2004, the second round of funding closes 31 August 2004. 128. Sports Development expenditure 2003-04 - Docker River Mr ELFERINK to MINISTER for SPORT How much is being spent in financial year 2003-04 for sports development by way of Sports Grants and Wages in Docker River? ANSWER The Walungurru Council Aboriginal Corporation (Kintore Community) did not apply for a grant under the Office of Sport and Recreations Local Governing Bodies Grants Program in 2003-04 financial year. Sport and Recreation funding for financial year 2003-04 for Walungurru Council Aboriginal Corporation under Grass Roots Development Grant is $3000. Mr ELFERINK to MINISTER for SPORT How much is being spent in financial year 2003-04 for sports development by way of Sports Grants and Wages in Kintore? ANSWER Sport and Recreation funding for financial year 2003-04 for Kaltukatjara Community Council Aboriginal Corporation (Docker River Community) under Local Government Bodies Grant Developing Your Community is $25 000. The outcome statement for Docker River approved by the Minister is, Organised activities for the young unemployed people on this remote community with further development of sustainable youth programs and more involvement from local people. Local Anangu people will be trained to assist with many of the activities. The community makes the decision about how best to achieve this outcome, in this instance the outcomes are being achieved through the: employment of a suitable person(s) to coordinate the provision of appropriate sport and recreation opportunities within the local community in line with Office of Sport and Recreation and Council objectives. Sport and Recreation fimding for financial year 2003-04 for Docker River under the Grass Roots Development Grant is $1300. Grass Roots funding is made available twice in each financial year.
